What You Will Achieve:
Oversees all aspects of employee compensation, ensuring accurate and timely payments, compliance with regulations, and efficient payroll processes, including managing a payroll team and systems.
How You Will Achieve It:
- Manage the internal controls within the Processing area. This includes having a complete understanding of all SOX 404 documentation, key controls, and establishing a continuous, documented monitoring process to ensure each key control is operating effectively.
- Coach, train, and develop direct reports.
- Monitor and enhance procedures, controls, and computer systems to increase efficiency, productivity, and accuracy of assigned tasks.
- Coordinate daily work activities, organizing and prioritizing department workload, auditing of work of payroll processors, monitoring status of work in progress and reviewing completed work.
- Supervise the processing of special payments to employees per company policy including, relocation assistance, commissions and stock payouts and other payments as needed.
- Providing leadership, training and counseling to achieve excellent customer service from the payroll processing team.
- Review and approve payments prepared by processing team to ensure accuracy and timeliness of the payment based on state requirements.
- Anticipate and provide solutions to customer needs giving high priority to customer satisfaction and resources needed to maintain the standard of satisfaction.
- Maintain and uphold the strictest confidentiality over Payroll information.
- Provide coaching and opportunities for development through identified process efficiencies within the established weekly tasks.
- Facilitating the processing area to be responsive to customer needs in a timely manner, by maintaining the communicated standards of service, and accountability.
- Assist the Payroll Manager to support project related tasks and other requests from outside areas.
- Ensure that all process efficiencies and updates are properly documented and communicated to team through training and resource material on a regular basis.
Requirements
What You Need to Achieve It:
- Associate degree in accounting/or related field preferred with 10 years of multi-state payroll processing experience
- Prior experience with new payroll system implementations
- Prior payroll experience with a public company
- Knowledge of ISO and NQO stock adjustments
- Experience managing system changes preferred
- Extensive knowledge of payroll practices and tax laws pertaining to payroll
- Experience with a public company and SOX requirements
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Advanced excel and reporting skills
- Ability to work well with all levels of management
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to multitask and work with a team
- Experience supporting 1000 employees
- Experience with Paylocity beneficial but not required
- Ability to assume responsibility and exercise good judgment in making decisions within the scope of authority of the position and escalate when needed.
- Experience collaborating with others within Payroll and Human Resources departments.
- Certified Payroll Professional license is a plus
- Strong communication and supervisory skills
- Ability to function in a fast paced environment
