What You Will Achieve:
The Director, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting with serve as a subject matter expert on US GAAP and SEC regulations for the preparation and filing of SEC reports and demonstrate a clear understanding of related authoritative literature governing financial reporting for public companies. Prepare technical accounting memos and analysis as needed. Lead the coordination and preparation of quarterly and year-end external financial reports, including business section, risk factors, footnotes and MD&A for quarterly earnings releases, 10-Qs and 10-Ks and related press releases and earnings release scripts. Assume ownership of certain SOX controls.
How You Will Achieve It:
- Directs the preparation, review, and submission, of financial statements and other filings as required by government and regulatory agencies including the SEC.
- Ensure effective controls around the SEC reporting, internal reporting and technical accounting process.
- Project manage all aspects of public reporting process: preparing financial statements, foot notes, MD&A, tie out binder and all auditor questions for 10Ks and 10Qs.
- Manages the timely preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements.
- Monitor the effects and assessing/communicating the effects of assigned proposed accounting pronouncements and SEC regulations and supervise drafting and/or draft disclosures in the financial statements and footnotes.
- Proactively identify, research, consult and draft technical memorandums on significant proposed and or completed transactions and complex issues.
- Preparation of financial materials and other materials used in presentations to the Audit Committee, Board of Directors and Senior Management.
- Facilitate the review of Financial Statements with external auditors, the Executive Leadership Team, the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and other operational leaders as needed.
- Oversee the preparation of accounting entries for complex matters, including but not limited to revenue recognition, acquisition accounting, stock compensation expense, restructuring and lease accounting.
- Be the primary contact and coordinate the review of complex technical accounting, quarterly reviews and the annual audit with external auditors.
- Develop strong cross-functional relationships and serve as a key business partner with GL Accounting, FP&A, Legal and HR to ensure that all transactions are properly reflected in the financial statements.
Requirements
What You Need to Achieve It:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA required.
- 10 years of public accounting and industry experience required (minimum of 3 years in Big 4 public accounting) OR 10 years of relevant accounting and reporting experience OR 10 years in technical accounting and SEC reporting roles, preferably within publicly traded companies
- Proficient technical accounting skills and thorough understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting
- Experience with the application and adoption of new accounting standards
- Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and consistency in preparing work
- Excellent analytical, quantitative skills and accounting research skills
- Experience leading significant business process changes
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skill.
- Ability to work well with others, collaborative approach
- Working experience of using SEC filing software application
- Ability to project manage and own their work product
- Professional and personable demeanor
- Experience and familiarity with biotech and technology manufacturing industry preferred
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills
